Affordable Housing
Wellspring recognizes that one of the key contributors to homelessness is the lack of affordable housing for low-income individuals and families. Since 1987 Wellspring House has owned and managed 11 Chestnut Street. Chestnut Street is permanent housing for individuals, 5 men and 5 women who live there with the help of a subsidy program made available through the Gloucester Housing Authority. Each individual pays a portion of their rent determined by their income. Each tenant has their own room and access to a shared kitchen, bathrooms and laundry facility.
The Chestnut Street Service Coordinator helps tenants to connect with community resources as needed.
