I walked into that first class at Wellspring to learn how to turn a computer on. Now I’m going to be the first person in my family to graduate from college.

One Family Scholars
Since 2001, Wellspring has partnered with One Family Inc., a homelessness non-profit organization founded by Paul and Phyllis Fireman. This comprehensive scholarship helps break the cycle of poverty and homelessness for low-income, single parents. The One Family Scholars program values higher education as the surest pathway to family self-sufficiency.
Wellspring took a chance on me when I felt I didn’t deserve one. The value of education has been instilled in our family with support and mentorship every step of the way. The One Family Scholar Program gave me a monthly stipend for childcare and travel cost as well as tuition for summer courses. This allowed me to earn my degree quicker and get a head start on my Bachelor’s degree. More education changed my life. I went from barely making it while working three jobs to one job I Iove that provides for my family. It is never too late. Where there is a will, there is a way.
