Tuesdays & Thursdays: 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM

July 6, 2021 – August 12, 2021

The popularity of comics and graphic novels are on the rise. In addition to their popularity their negative history is being shed and the benefits of reading comics and graphic novels is being embraced not only in our culture, but also in the classroom and on the bookshelves of our local libraries.

In this online class, we will read Jarrett J. Krosoczka’s graphic memoir Hey, Kiddo and use his story as a means of learning the power of the combination of images and text in order to tell a story. In addition, we will explore the work of other graphic novelists, learn how to read a graphic novel, and discuss literature terms such as theme, narration, foreshadowing, and symbolism. This class is open to first time graphic novel readers and enthusiasts alike.
