In this online class, we will read Jarrett J. Krosoczka’s graphic memoir Hey, Kiddo and use his story as a means of learning the power of the combination of images and text in order to tell a story. In addition, we will explore the work of other graphic novelists, learn how to read a graphic novel, and discuss literature terms such as theme, narration, foreshadowing, and symbolism. This class is open to first time graphic novel readers and enthusiasts alike.
