The HealthCare Office Support Training (HOST), known for 20 years as MediClerk, is a hybrid, occupational education program training adult job-seekers for entry-level administrative and non-clinical support positions within healthcare. 85% of students who complete the program secure employment within 6-12 months. Program advisors provide career coaching and ongoing support for an extended time after graduation and job placement.
Our program includes:
- 450 hours of comprehensive training across six subjects
- Full and part-time hybrid learning to accommodate busy schedules
- Two-week Internship participation often leading to immediate employment

- Stipends may be available
- Up to 19 credits at North Shore Community College (NSCC) which can be applied towards credit-bearing certificates or associate degrees.

When are training sessions offered for HOST?
Full-Time Day Program (15 weeks)
Wellspring offers two full-time sessions per year, one beginning in September and the other in February. Each session lasts for a duration of 15 weeks.

Full-Time Day Program Schedule:
Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday 9:00 am – 3:00 pm in-person at MGB Salem Hospital
Friday 9:00 am – 11:00 am online.
In-person internships & job placement
Part-Time Evening/Saturday Program (32 weeks)
The part-time program session starts in September and lasts for a duration of 32 weeks.

September 14, 2025 – May 30, 2026
Part-Time Program Schedule:
Monday & Wednesday 5:30 pm – 9:00 pm online.
Saturday (once a month) 9:00 am – 2:00 pm in-person at MGB Salem Hospital.

What are the current enrollment requirements for HOST?
- Commit to the entire course
- Be 18 years of age and present a high school diploma or a GED or HiSET certificate
- Take and pass a Criminal Offender Record Investigation (CORI)
- Provide proof of citizenship/resident status
- Show a social security card or work authorization permit
- Have basic computer skills and demonstrated typing speed of 25 words-per-minute (WPM)
- Access to reliable internet service for participation in online course sessions, including video conferencing
- Meet current Salem Hospital immunization requirements, including COVID-19 vaccination

Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance’s (DTA’s) Competitive Integrated Employment Services (CIES) Contract.
Wellspring’s Job Training team provides healthcare career advising and job training opportunities to parents receiving cash assistance through the Massachusetts Transitional Aid to Families with Dependent Children program (TAFDC). Those eligible should speak to their assigned DTA case worker about contacting Wellspring’s program enrollment staff.
