Driving Change: How Wellspring’s New Hybrid Van Is Opening Doors on the North Shore

Three months after its ribbon-cutting, Wellspring’s new 8-passenger hybrid van is proving to be far more than just a set of wheels. It’s a moving link between community members and opportunities, resources, and essentials. From fresh produce deliveries to back-to-back diaper and clothing runs, the van has been busy turning everyday trips into empowering moments.

A Community Partnership in Motion

In May, Wellspring announced the exciting addition of the van, made possible through the generosity of Albrecht Auto Group, Institution for Savings, BankGloucester, and Cape Ann Savings Bank. At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, community leaders, sponsors, and Wellspring staff came together to celebrate what this new resource means for individuals and families across the North Shore.

“Thanks to the generosity of our partners, we’re removing one more barrier for families striving to build stable, secure futures. This is a perfect example of how community collaboration can drive real, measurable impact.”

On the Road to Support

In just a few months, the van has become a steady presence in Wellspring’s homelessness prevention work, helping staff respond more quickly to needs as they arise. It’s allowed for more flexible transportation of both people and essential supplies, especially items that can be challenging to move without a large vehicle.

“The van has been a great addition and complement to homelessness prevention services. We’re able to more easily transport our large garden shares from Three Sisters Garden Project as well as pick up and deliver monthly diaper and clothing donations from Bambino Baskets to our families. Upcoming adventures for the van include deliveries of new school sneakers and backpacks for the upcoming school year!”
