Overnight and Weekend Shelter Staff – Per Diem

Job Hours: Per Diem – assist with staff coverage
Hours Per Week: shift coverage, up to approximately 24 hours/month
SUMMARY:
Wellspring’s mission is to inspire families and adults on the North Shore to achieve employment and financial security through stable housing, education, job training and career readiness.
Wellspring House, Inc. is expanding its per diem staff for occasional coverage of weekend and/or overnight shifts at our family shelter in downtown Gloucester, a well established program in operation since the mid 1980’s.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Wellspring has eleven regularly scheduled evening/overnight/weekend shifts every week. The purpose of the per diem pool is to provide a consistent, reliable team of substitute staff members to fill in during vacation, sick time, and other open shifts.
- Job duties include general supervision of up to 5 families residing at the shelter and reinforcing compliance with program and state of Massachusetts guidelines.
- Staff ensure a safe and orderly residential environment, greeting families when they return to the property and providing information and support as needed.
- Overnight shifts are considered ‘asleep’, but staff members must be available to readily respond to the needs of Wellspring House, Inc. and shelter families as necessary during the overnight hours.
- Other duties as assigned. Job responsibilities may change as the needs of the program change.
WHAT WE SEEK:
We especially seek applicants who have prior shelter and/or residential experience. In addition to being able to maintain professional boundaries, excellent communication and problem-solving skills are a must.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Some post-secondary education (college or specialized training) preferred. CPR/First Aid Certification required.
