Institution for Savings Awards Wellspring $10,000 to Help Multilingual Learners Build Skills for Work
Wellspring House is grateful to receive a $10,000 grant from the Institution for Savings Charitable Foundation in support of our English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and digital literacy programming for multilingual adults on the North Shore.
Many of the parents and adults we serve speak Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, and other languages at home. They bring work experience, determination, and the drive to build a better future for their families. What often stands between them and a good job is the chance to strengthen their English, build digital skills, and connect with local employers. Wellspring’s program brings these together:
- Contextualized English instruction built around the vocabulary and situations learners will face at work
- Digital literacy training and device access, so participants can apply for jobs, communicate with their children’s schools, and work confidently with technology
- Job coaching to turn new skills into stable employment
The impact reaches beyond each learner. When a parent gains the language, skills, and confidence to secure steady work, the whole family moves closer to financial security.
Thank you to the Institution for Savings Charitable Foundation for investing in the multilingual learners and families who strengthen our North Shore communities.
