For most families, the answer isn’t extravagant: a job that pays enough to support yourself and your family. The ability to save for the future. And enough of a cushion to manage the unexpected. 

At Wellspring, we see every day how quickly financial progress can be interrupted – and how much can change when the right supports are in place. Through individualized, wraparound support, we help address the vulnerabilities that make it harder to move forward, building a stronger foundation for lasting stability. 

Because for too many families that cushion simply isn’t there. A recent Federal Reserve Bank of Boston report found more than one-third of Massachusetts families surveyed would be unable to cover a $400 emergency expense with cash or its equivalent. 

A car repair can threaten someone’s ability to work. A change in childcare can derail job training. An unexpected bill can put rent out of reach. This is the instability we work against every day. 

But we also see tremendous opportunity. North Shore employers need skilled workers, and people in our communities are eager to build the skills that lead to better-paying careers. Our growing regional partnerships help connect the two – so people can begin and advance in meaningful work, and our local workforce grows stronger with them. 

Progress looks different for every person who comes to Wellspring. It may begin with stable housing, English instruction, a high school equivalency credential, digital skills, career training, financial coaching, or help navigating childcare or transportation. 

Because life’s challenges rarely happen in isolation, progress often depends on more than one solution. By bringing the right resources together around each person’s goals, Wellspring helps young adults, adults and families build on their strengths and keep moving forward.
