Rockland Trust Foundation Awards Wellspring $10,000 to Build Healthcare Career Pathways for North Shore Families
Wellspring House is proud to receive a $10,000 grant from the Rockland Trust Foundation in support of Building Career Pathways and Financial Stability for North Shore Families. This investment will strengthen our Healthcare Office Support Training (HOST) Program, which prepares low-income parents and adults for stable, living-wage careers in healthcare.
HOST combines tuition-free healthcare office training with individualized coaching and wraparound support, including help with childcare, transportation, and housing stability. Every student completes a job shadow and a two-week internship with employer partners like Mass General Brigham Salem Hospital, Beth Israel Lahey Health, and Lynn Community Health Center. Participants arrive at job interviews with real workplace experience and a trusted connection to employers who are hiring.
The program is working, last year alone:
- 89% of participants completed the program, our highest graduation rate in a decade
- Graduates earned a mean starting wage of $22.40/hour, a 32% average increase over their wages at entry
This year, HOST is growing in new directions. We’re opening doors to higher-wage roles like Medical Assistant and Clinical Assistant, helping alumni advance through promotions, and welcoming referrals from Saugus, Chelsea, and Everett.
“Rockland Trust understands that a good job depends on more than a job opening. Their support helps our participants get the training they need and clear the hurdles that stand between them and a career.” — Melissa Dimond, President & Executive Director
