In Kay’s own words, “Wellspring’s work expresses an understanding that people need a safe place to call home, education that liberates minds, and jobs that pay a living wage to break out of poverty.”
Kay O’Rourke was named President and Executive Director of Wellspring House in 2007. She first came to Wellspring in 1982, and over the years has served in various roles including volunteer and staff positions. At Wellspring Kay developed an appreciation for how people and communities shape and change each other. With this understanding Wellspring continues to pioneer innovative work that enables individuals and communities to create new stories, to make real what is possible and grow.
Under her leadership, Wellspring has deepened its commitment to transformative adult education and job training programs in an effort to serve the pressing needs of the community during these troubled economic times. Wellspring has also expanded its basic needs work that includes a robust homeless prevention program, and stabilization work with families who have left shelter. As a community, Wellspring looks forward to continuing to providing excellent services, growing our education programs, and creating the change that encourages the full expression of the human spirit.
