National Women's Equality Day 2024 - Gloucester MA Forum
Wellspring House participated in, and is pleased to support, Gloucester’s National Women’s Equality Day (NWED) Community forum of August 26, 2024 — the anniversary of Congress Granting Women the Right to Vote in 1920. This non–partisan event is celebrated nationally. This year’s forum theme was “Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion” (DEI). Wellspring’s board, staff, and volunteers are committed to DEI in guiding our departmental and individual plans with measurable goals and objectives.
Wellspring House President and CEO Melissa Dimond was a Panelist for this 2nd annual event, with Katie Kahl, Director of UMASS Marine Station in Gloucester; and Christa Miller-Shelley, Captain of the Schooner Adventure. The panel discussion was moderated by Heather Atwood Producer of 1623 Studios.
Co-chairs, Amy Shapiro and City Councilor Val Gilman asked if we would “host” event highlights online to share with Wellspring House friends and the public, and we are happy to include the following 2024 NWED information:
- The 8/26/24 program PDF of the forum with write-ups of 17 inspiring women that were honored by our City’s 501C’s and women leaders
- Break out group discussion summaries of what resonated during the panel discussion
- Proclamations from the Mayor of Gloucester and the 2024/2025 City Council
- The Studio 1623 video recording of the event at City Hall
- A feedback form that can be filled out and submitted to the 2024 NWED forum co-chairs
- Amy Shapiro, M. Ed at AmySun@aol.com
- Val Gilman, Councilor-At-Large at vgilman@gloucester-ma.gov
