Tuesdays & Thursdays: in-person, 9 am-12 pm
Mondays virtual, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Classification: Part-time, hourly, September – early June

Wellspring’s Job Training Initiatives department provides occupational skills training and healthcare career advising in Salem, MA on the campus of Mass General Brigham Salem Hospital.

WHAT WE SEEK

Wellspring is seeking to add a dynamic and person-centered Professional Communication instructor to its HealthCare Office Support Training team. This is a part-time, hybrid position for the 2022-2023 academic year.

The Instructor will teach two distinct, but complementary courses: Professional Success (20 instructional hours) and Business Communication (36 instructional hours). They will play a critical role in supporting program participants in building their written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Topics include:

  • Developing an employment portfolio (resume, cover letter, references)
  • Interviewing with confidence
  • Conflict management, giving and receiving feedback, implicit bias, etc.

The Professional Success and Business Communication courses are an important component of Wellspring’s 450-hour HealthCare Office Support Training. The program also includes courses in Medical Office Procedures, Medical Terminology, Computers, and Keyboarding. Successful graduates of the program can earn up to 19 transferable college credits at North Shore Community College.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • College-level coursework or equivalent in Business/Professional Communication, Writing, English, or related area
  • Teaching or training experience with adults from culturally, linguistically, racially and socio-economically diverse backgrounds.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (with a focus on Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and video-conferencing technology (ZOOM), and a variety of internet and cloud-based platforms (Google Suite, etc.) with a demonstrated ability to teach via these platforms in a clear and approachable manner.
  • Ability to comply with immunization requirements of Salem Hospital at least 2 weeks before date-of-hire, (COVID-19, influenza, MMR, Varicella and recent TB test.)

LOCATION

In-person classes are held in Salem, MA at the MediClerk Training Program classrooms at 55 Highland Hall, an administrative building located on the campus of Mass General Brigham Salem Hospital.

COMPENSATION

Rate: $30/hour for approximately 16 hours/week (includes required instructional hours, prep, PD, and weekly staff meetings.)
