In Massachusetts, regular daily costs are 28% higher than the national average, with housing costs nearly 50% above the national median. In both the rental and home ownership markets, prices are rising faster in Eastern Massachusetts than almost any other part of the United States. Today, many families and individuals face daunting costs of living—your support is vital as Wellspring’s work is urgent, especially in the current climate.
At Wellspring, we believe that financial security is the most important lever for long-term success. That’s why our holistic approach goes beyond education, job training, housing stability, or career readiness alone. It’s not enough to simply create opportunities; we must also remove the barriers that keep community members stuck in financial stress.
Thanks to your support, hundreds of individuals are finding lasting pathways to success. Our Healthcare Office Support Training (HOST) program is a shining example. When the December 2024 class graduated, 60% had already secured healthcare jobs—a remarkable achievement. Today, just four months later, 80% are employed, and nearly half are pursuing further education.
Wellspring’s support doesn’t end at graduation. We remain by the side of our community members as a resource and a partner long after their first step forward. Take Jess, who completed the HOST program in 2020. She will graduate with honors this year from North Shore Community College. Jess’ journey will continue at Salem State University this fall, sparked by her HOST experience and strengthened by a Wellspring scholarship awarded four years later.
